New Church to Start in Sioux City

We are excited to announce the start of our next new church in Sioux City, Iowa. CEM just hired Drew Hanson to be our next church planter.

It is my privilege to introduce you to Drew, Amber, Ridley and Sparrow Hanson. Our newest church planting family will be starting on July 1st and plan to be moved to Sioux City by September 1st.

Since September, Drew has been doing a residency with Adventure Christian Community in Davenport. Adventure was started 19 years ago by Tony Liston, partnering with CEM. Adventure has grown consistently in those 19 years, now running around 900. It has been a great place to learn about effective church planting. The residency program with Adventure was designed to help Drew get ready to start the new church in Sioux City. I am grateful for Tony, Adventure and our CEM team for helping Drew prepare for this great work.

There is a great need for a new work in Sioux City. At this time we currently don't have a CEM church in this large metropolitan area, which includes the corners of Nebraska and South Dakota that connect to the Missouri River. The population of the Sioux Land area is currently 106,315. Drew grew up in Whiting, Iowa and lived in Sioux City for a few years. He is well aware of the need for a church that can have an impact in the lives of many people who do not have a relationship with God through Jesus.
